Feline Medicine In Kennett Square, PA

Cats are a favorite here at Cypress Veterinary Clinic. When it comes to veterinary medicine, cats are not small dogs! They get different diseases, exhibit symptoms differently, and are overall likely from another planet (Kidding…sort of).

Cats tend to hide their illnesses, preventing owners from picking up on signs that they are sick, often not until it’s too late. Also, cats tend to be brought to the veterinarian less than dogs by their owners. Preventative care is very important for our feline pets, especially for those that are indoor/outdoor and tend to become injured more often than our primarily indoor cats. Annual blood work is important so we can watch trends in lab work, especially kidney values. The IRIS (International Renal Interest Society) guidelines consider high normal kidney values to be early kidney disease. Early intervention always equals a better outcome. It is also important to watch the weight in our feline friends as obesity is one of the top conditions that impact overall health and longevity. Obesity can lead to diabetes, arthritis, and other chronic diseases.

CVC focuses on cats and what makes them special. We understand how easily cats can become stressed. We have options to help ease the car ride to the clinic as well as calming techniques during their visit. We also can help manage the many chronic diseases they suffer from, such as:

  • Cystitis
  • Bladder stones
  • Urinary obstructions
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Pancreatitis
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Chronic upper respiratory tract infections
  • Kidney disease
  • Hyperthyroidism and many others!
