Meet Our Team
Laura Johnson, VMD
Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. Johnson proudly founded Cypress Veterinary Clinic in the Spring of 2022. She grew up in Landenberg and graduated from Avon Grove. Dr. Johnson’s first memory of wanting to be a vet was at 4 years old. During her childhood, she was drawn to animals and had many pets from earthworms, bees, turtles, to small rodents and many cats and dogs. Dr. Johnson has been involved with veterinary medicine for over 25 years, starting out as a volunteer in high school, and then working as a technician at a local practice while in college. She spent time on her summer breaks during veterinary school doing spay and neuter clinics with RAVS on Native American reservations.
Dr. Johnson received her B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Delaware in 2000. In 2005, she graduated and received her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Johnson completed a Small Animal Internship at Oradell Animal Hospital in 2006. She spent her first 8 years at a 24-hour Emergency and General Practice Hospital in Lansdale, PA. She worked locally after moving back to Southern Chester County 7 years ago, before opening Cypress Veterinary Clinic.
Dr. Johnson’s professional interests include internal medicine and emergency/critical care. When founding CVC, her goals were to provide high-quality, collaborative, and compassionate veterinary care for the family and the patient, and to nurture the human-animal bond.
Outside of work, Dr. Johnson is a Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Eagles and the Phillies. She enjoys the beach, traveling, movies, Netflix, and streaming services binge-watching with her husband, and spending time with her friends and family. She lives in Avondale with her husband Jason, daughter Quinn, son Miles, and the 2 mascots of CVC, her cat Howie and her rescue pit bull mix, Charlie!
Dr. Johnson is very excited to be able to offer veterinary care to Kennett Square and surrounding communities!
Millie E.
Office Manager
Millie started as our Customer Service Representative and Veterinary Assistant at CVC and was promoted to Office Manager at the end of 2023! She did a 3-year program at TCHS at the Pennock’s campus Bridge graduating from their Veterinary Science program in 2017. In 2019 she graduated from the Animal Behavior College, a 1 year online program, where she received a veterinary assistant certificate.
In her free time, Millie enjoys spending time with her family and playing with her three dogs!
Hilary F.
Veterinary Technician
Hilary is a dedicated and compassionate veterinary technician with a deep love for animals. Born and raised in southern Chester county, she achieved a degree in psychology from Delaware County Community College and graduated from the YTI Technical Institute in York, Pennsylvania with a degree in Veterinary Technology. Hilary is thrilled to be a part of the experienced team at Cypress Veterinary Clinic. In her current role, Hilary assists Dr. Johnson in providing care for our community’s pets and their people. She often performs routine procedures, such as administering medications, taking vital signs, and handling animals with care for exams and surgeries. In her free time, Hilary enjoys kayaking and hiking with her rescue dog Radar, reading, and when she can, visiting friends in the mountains of North Carolina. She is excited to continue making a difference in the lives of animals and their owners.
Dana
Certified Veterinary Technician
Passing her VTNE and becoming a certified veterinary technician was not Dana’s start in veterinary medicine. Dana started at a small clinic in Nashville, TN as a kennel tech where she discovered her love for helping not only animals and pets but their owners as well. Dana worked her way up from kennel tech to veterinary assistant while going to Penn Foster where she received her degree in veterinary technology, and eventually becoming a licensed technician. Now Dana has experience in many different aspects of the veterinary field including large and exotic animal medicine. Dana now has two dogs and two cats and one day she dreams of owning her own farm. When Dana is not helping animals, you can find her outside hiking with her fur balls and husband, or running with her dogs to train for her next triathlon to compete in.
Rachel
Veterinary Assistant
Rachel, who prefers the nickname Rae, is one of our Veterinary Assistants! When asked what she wanted to do when she grew up, it was always to help animals! Despite her first word being dog her parents ultimately gave her a baby human brother instead of a dog! The first chance she had she rescued Porsha, a lab/pit mix in 2013. Porsha was Raes’ motivation to pursue veterinary medicine. She now has 2 more dogs, Cole and Murphy who are both pit bulls. Rae lives in DE with her 1-year-old son. In her free time you’ll find her hiking!
