Laura Johnson, VMD

Veterinarian/Owner

Dr. Johnson proudly founded Cypress Veterinary Clinic in the Spring of 2022. She grew up in Landenberg and graduated from Avon Grove. Dr. Johnson’s first memory of wanting to be a vet was at 4 years old. During her childhood, she was drawn to animals and had many pets from earthworms, bees, turtles, to small rodents and many cats and dogs. Dr. Johnson has been involved with veterinary medicine for over 25 years, starting out as a volunteer in high school, and then working as a technician at a local practice while in college. She spent time on her summer breaks during veterinary school doing spay and neuter clinics with RAVS on Native American reservations.

Dr. Johnson received her B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Delaware in 2000. In 2005, she graduated and received her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Johnson completed a Small Animal Internship at Oradell Animal Hospital in 2006. She spent her first 8 years at a 24-hour Emergency and General Practice Hospital in Lansdale, PA. She worked locally after moving back to Southern Chester County 7 years ago, before opening Cypress Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Johnson’s professional interests include internal medicine and emergency/critical care. When founding CVC, her goals were to provide high-quality, collaborative, and compassionate veterinary care for the family and the patient, and to nurture the human-animal bond.

Outside of work, Dr. Johnson is a Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Eagles and the Phillies. She enjoys the beach, traveling, movies, Netflix, and streaming services binge-watching with her husband, and spending time with her friends and family. She lives in Avondale with her husband Jason, daughter Quinn, son Miles, and the 2 mascots of CVC, her cat Howie and her rescue pit bull mix, Charlie!

Dr. Johnson is very excited to be able to offer veterinary care to Kennett Square and surrounding communities!

Dr. Hammill, VMD

Veterinarian

Dr. Hammill grew up in Chester Springs and attended Downingtown High School. From a very young age she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian but pursued other avenues after high school. Eventually she came back to veterinary medicine and received her undergraduate degree and master’s degree from West Chester University. She then went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 2019. In vet school she had a strong interest in exotics and dermatology. She was even able to do an externship in Thailand working with elephants during her clinical year. She was also active in the school’s shelter medicine program.

After graduation Dr. Hammill worked in Wilmington, DE at a practice that saw exotics, cats and dogs. There she was able to strengthen her knowledge and skills in exotic medicine and surgery. Her favorite animals to treat are rats, snakes and pet pigs. With a young son at home, she decided she wanted to work closer to home and she ended up at Cypress Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Hammill lives in Oxford with her youngest son, 3 dogs and 4 cats. In her spare time, she likes to travel, garden, collect orchids, scuba dive and spend time with her family. She is also a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan!

Dana

Dana

Lead Technician/ Certified Veterinary Technician

Passing the VTNE and becoming a certified veterinary technician was a proud milestone for Dana, but her journey in veterinary medicine began long before that. She started as a kennel technician at a small clinic in Nashville, TN, where she quickly discovered her passion for caring for both animals and the people who love them.

While working her way up from kennel tech to veterinary assistant, Dana enrolled in Penn Foster College and earned her degree in Veterinary Technology. Since then, she has gained hands-on experience across many areas of the field, including large animal and exotic animal medicine.

At Cypress Veterinary Clinic, Dana serves as our Lead Technician and Inventory Manager. She keeps the hospital well-stocked and running smoothly while motivating and mentoring the team through her experience, energy, and dedication to patient care.

Dana shares her home with two dogs and two cats and dreams of one day owning her own farm. Outside the clinic, you’ll often find her hiking with her “fur balls” and husband or training for her next triathlon with her dogs by her side.

Zimm

Doris (Zimm)

Practice Manager/Certified Veterinary Technician

Zimm has been working in veterinary medicine since 2000, starting her career as a Certified Veterinary Technician. Over the past six years, she has also taken on the role of Practice Manager, combining her clinical experience with a passion for leadership and team development.

Her love for animals began early, when she cared for her childhood cat’s broken leg and helped raise a litter of kittens—an experience that sparked a lifelong commitment to veterinary care.

Outside the clinic, Zimm enjoys an active and adventurous life with her wife. Together, they can be found on the pickleball court, racing their Whippet and Cavalier in Flyball competitions, or tending to their four beehives.

Brett

Brett

Certified Veterinary Technician

Brett graduated from Harcum College in 2019 and joined the Cypress Veterinary Clinic team in August 2024. Her passion for working with animals began in childhood and has only grown stronger over the years.

Before transitioning to companion and exotic animal medicine in 2023, Brett spent several years gaining valuable experience in farm animal medicine. Her diverse background allows her to bring a well-rounded perspective to patient care, and she’s especially skilled at handling a wide variety of species with calm confidence.

Outside of work, Brett enjoys spending time with her horse, Dawson, and her dog, Koda. She is also a dedicated volunteer EMT, always looking for ways to serve and support her community.

Hilary

Veterinary Assistant

Hilary is a dedicated and compassionate veterinary technician who has always had a deep love for animals. A lifelong resident of southern Chester County, she first earned her associate’s degree in psychology from Delaware County Community College before pursuing her true passion—veterinary medicine. At Cypress Veterinary Clinic, Hilary plays a vital role in patient care. Her responsibilities include administering medications and vaccines, assisting in surgery, and taking appointments. Her calm presence and clinical skills make her a valued member of the team.

Hilary’s love for animals is also part of her home life. Her rescue Chihuahua, Radar—who inspired her to become a veterinary technician—often joins her on outdoor adventures. When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll find her reading, gardening, or kayaking with Radar riding along.

Christine’s journey in veterinary medicine began at age 16, working in a kennel where her passion for animal care first took root. She later earned her Associate’s degree in Animal Center Management from Harcum College in 2012 and has been a dedicated veterinary assistant ever since.

Over the years, Christine has worked with a wide variety of species and has a particular fondness for exotic animals. While she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, she has developed a strong interest in dentistry and takes pride in supporting pets’ long-term health through oral care. Christine is currently pursuing her Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) license to continue growing her skills and impact in the field.

Emily

Customer Service Representative

Emily’s journey in animal care began over ten years ago as a part-time dog walker. As her interest in veterinary medicine grew, she realized she wanted more than just a job—she wanted a career working with animals. She went on to work at a kennel that was part of a veterinary hospital, where she learned the daily operations of a busy clinic and deepened her passion for helping pets and their people.

Now, as a receptionist at Cypress Veterinary Clinic, Emily enjoys welcoming clients and their pets, helping ensure every visit starts off with a friendly and supportive experience. She’s especially known for her calm, helpful presence at the front desk and her genuine love for the animals who come through our doors.

Outside of work, Emily shares her home with her energetic Border Collie, Oliver, and two cats, Franklin and Todd. She’s a proud Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoys spending her downtime curled up with a good book.

Her house is full of love, tail wags, purrs, and probably a little pet hair—but she wouldn’t trade it for anything.

When she’s not at the clinic or wrangling her pack, she’s hanging out with her awesome fiancé, watching anime, diving into a good book, or gaming like a true nerd queen.

Kiasia can’t wait to meet you and your furry family member Stop in today to say Hi!
